Our editor, Joey O'Connor, had a chance to ask Taylor a few serious questions and many not-so-serious questions! Thanks Taylor for allowing the Conway Community to "Get To Know" you a little better!

What do you love most about Conway?

I love that it feels like home. I grew up in Marion, SC – not too far from Conway. Conway has that same feeling of community that Marion does. It’s also an older, historic town that I’ve had the privilege to see grow in my lifetime.

What made you move here initially (or did you grow up here)?

My husband and I just bought a home here, and we are so very excited! We got married in September of last year. We weren’t completely sure where we wanted to settle down, but when we walked in an older home in downtown Conway, we looked at each other and said “yep, this feels like home”! We knew we were looking for somewhere that felt like we were part of a welcoming community, and Conway called us here.

If you could change just one thing in Conway, what would it be?

I’d like to better highlight what I call “treasures” in Conway. There are so many great amenities here. There are so many great reasons to visit, to work, to buy here. We have a beautiful waterfront view, some really great shops, and some amazing restaurants here in Conway. I’d like to see people want to turn off of 501 on the way to the beach to see what we’re about.

What’s your vision of Conway in 20 years?

My vision for Conway in the next 20 years is to continue with the growth that I’ve seen here in the last few years. I love our Main Street area. I love seeing businesses thriving. I love seeing more restaurants and coffee shops open, and my vision would be to fill any remaining empty buildings here. We want other cities to look at Conway and want to know how we did it. I’d also like to attract more young people here. I think there’s so much that our downtown district has to offer CCU students and young adults who are looking to buy their first home.

If there is something that you don't think the public knows about you but you would like for them to know, what would that be?

I previously worked for one of the local TV stations. I was a reporter for WBTW News13. I think that experience has helped me transition in my new role because I’ve seen both sides. I’ve got a great relationship with the reporters in this area, and I’m excited to work with all of them and serve the community in this new capacity.

Who is your role model or hero?

Both of my parents. I grew up in a strong, Christian home. Both of my parents are teachers and have strong reputations in my hometown. My dad is a baseball coach for one of the best teams in South Carolina. This past year, he had his 500th win as a coach. My mom is pretty much Superwoman! How she balances everything she takes on is beyond me. Watching them grow through the years both independently in their careers and as a couple has been one of my greatest treasures. I am who I am because of them.

Where did you grow up? Where did you go to High School? Where did you go to College? Etc.

I grew up in Marion, SC. I went to Lake View High School in Lake View, SC (both of my parents teach there), and I graduated from the University of South Carolina. (Go Gamecocks!)

HOW ABOUT SOME FUN AND NOT SO SERIOUS QUESTIONS!

What CD is in your CD Player right now? Or, if you use an MP3 Player, what's the last song that played?

Faithfully by Journey.

Are you musical? Do you play an instrument(s)?

I wish! I’m not musical at all.

Which do you prefer - Golf or Tennis?

Tennis. My mom played tennis in high school and on the collegiate level. I’m nowhere near as good as she is, though. I’m also terrible at golf…and not a very good loser.

If you could have any superpower for a day, what would you like to have?

I wish I could be in two places at once. I’m really, really bad at telling people no. That often means I take on a lot, and that superpower would come in handy!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Coffee and chocolate! Not necessarily together…I just can’t pick one. Ha!

What’s your favorite restaurant?

My husband and I joke that we moved here to be closer to Rivertown Bistro. That’s one of my favorites! I’m on a mission to try every restaurant in Conway. So far, I haven’t been disappointed.

What's your favorite movie?

Lion King.

What's your favorite tv show/series?

Fixer Upper on HGTV.

Biggest regret in life?

I was working when my PaPa was put in the hospital a few years ago. I didn’t leave right away when I found out he was sick. I never knew those would be some of the last moments I had with him. My biggest regret is that I wasn’t there on the family trip when he was put in the hospital.

Best decision you’ve ever made?

The best decision I ever made was marrying my high school sweetheart. He’s put up with me for a long time, and I love him more every single day.

Do you have any hobbies / What do you do in your spare time?

My favorite place to be is on a boat in the water. I don’t care if it’s an ocean, lake, river, etc. I also have the cutest puppy in the entire world. His name is Hudson. Any and all of my spare time is devoted to him. He has his own Instagram account. I’m that dog mom.

If you could interview (or meet) anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

I wish I had one more day with my PaPa.

If you had to start a new career, what would you do?

I’ve always dreamed of opening up my own dress shop/boutique.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

Chewed gum. I’m weird, I know. I just hate seeing it.

What’s your “home” page set to on your computer?

A picture of the Riverwalk on my desktop. Google in my web browser.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?

Is it bad that I can’t think of just one thing? I’m extremely clumsy, and so is my puppy. A run with us is a treat for anyone passing by...I’m sure.
